Why Telegram for Email Management?
Telegram offers several advantages over WhatsApp for power users: better bot infrastructure, native Markdown formatting, larger message size limits, and stronger privacy defaults. For users who live in Telegram, managing email from the same app is a natural extension.
Prerequisites
- A Telegram account (personal or business)
- An AI in Mail account (free trial available)
- An email account (Gmail or Outlook)
Step 1: Create Your AI in Mail Account
Go to aiinmail.com and click "Start Free Trial." Enter your email address and create a password. You will receive a verification email — click the link to activate your account.
Step 2: Connect Your Email
In the AI in Mail dashboard, click "Connect Email Account." Choose Gmail or Outlook. You will be redirected to the provider's OAuth flow. Sign in and approve the requested permissions. Your inbox will begin syncing immediately — initial sync takes 2-5 minutes for large inboxes.
Step 3: Set Up the Telegram Bot
- In the AI in Mail dashboard, go to "Channels" → "Telegram"
- Click "Connect Telegram"
- You will see a unique Telegram bot link (e.g., t.me/aiinmail_yourname_bot)
- Click the link to open it in Telegram, or search for the bot name in Telegram
- Send the "/start" command to the bot
- The bot will confirm your account is linked
Step 4: Configure Your Preferences
Send these commands to your bot to configure it:
/briefing 7am— Set morning briefing time/vip add boss@company.com— Mark a sender as VIP/quiet 10pm-7am— Set quiet hours/digest off— Turn off newsletter digests
Step 5: Test Your Setup
Send /summary to your bot. It will fetch and summarize your 5 most recent unread emails. If you see the summaries, everything is working correctly.
